The Elves and the Shoemaker

This was another play both Me, Colt, and some other guys put together for school, with horrifying results (During one scene, I wore a false mustache, and it kept falling off.) Enjoy!

Scene 1:Shoemaker is at table,working.Narrarator-There once lived a poor shoemaker.He used to have a wonderful shoemaking business,that is,until people started wanting the newer,prettier shoes.But the supplies for the pretty shoes costed so much more than his normal shoes!It looked like he was going to go broke if a miracle didn’t happen.

Shoemaker-What am I to do!Those shoes are so expensive,and I don’t even have money to make another pair!I’ll just have to hope for a miracle!

Scene 2:Shoemaker is asleep in chair.Narrarator-Miracle Indeed!As the shoemaker slept in his chair,two elves silently tip-toed into the room and began making shoes!(Jake and Blaine creep in,without a sound.As Jake works,Blaine whispers into Jakes ear.)

Elf 1/Earl-What?!?!There is NOTHING to be afraid of!Those old elf legends aren’t true!(Blaine whispers again.)No!Of course they don’t eat us!What are you,crazy!Now let’s go!(Elves tip-toe out,when Jake shhs Blaine,Blaine shhs the Shoemaker.)

Scene 3:Shoemaker wakes up,walks over to the table,and is shocked to find new shoes.Shoemaker-Wow!!!Where did these shoes come from!Maybe my prayer for a miracle has been answered!(Buyer walks in.)

Buyer-Golly!I’ve never seen such shoes before!I must have them!How much?

Shoemaker-60 pounds will do.

Buyer-Thank you!I must tell all my friends about the best shoestore in town!

Shoemaker-Thank you,come again!It seems there might be hope!I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this,but I’m gonna keep on doing it!

Scene 4:Shoemaker is asleep in chair again.Narrarator-As the Shoemaker was fast asleep,The two elves came back for another visit.(Jake and Blaine tip-toe in.Jake starts working,Blaine keeps looking at the shoemaker.)

Elf 1/Earl-Now,it seems the Shoemaker was pleased with our first visit.Let’s make him really happy with a second group of shoes!C’mon-(Shoemaker snores,Blaine dives under table.)Get back up here!We have a job to do.

Narrarator-The Elves then tip-toed back out the door.

Scene 5:Shoemaker wakes up,walks over to table,amazed at new shoes.Shoemaker-My luck keeps getting better!I wonder if any customers will come today?

(Buyer walks in.)Buyer-Because I am so proud of the shoes here and there quality,I am going to make a donation of 1,000 pounds to this store!I will also purchase these shoes!How much?

Shoemaker-50 pounds will do!

Buyer-Deal!Thank you!

Shoemaker-Thank you!I wonder who the people are that keep performing these magnificent deeds!I must thank them!I got it!I’ll hide out in the corner,and when those samaritans come,I’ll thank them personally and give them some spare sweaters from my closet!

Scene 6:Shoemaker is in corner,Elves come in.Narrarator-That night,the Elves tip-toed back in and started working.But before they could get far,the Shoemaker sprung from the corner and came face-to-face with the elves.

Shoemaker-Are you the two who helped me?

Earl-You bet!

Shoemaker-I would like to thank you for all your work,so I knitted you these sweaters!

Earl-Thank you!It was a pleasure to work for such a thankful man!

Shoemaker-You saved my life,and my business.For that I thank you!

Narrarator-The Elves then said their goodbyes,and vanished forever.But the Shoemaker had plenty of business and money.The End.
