#4 Best Part About Christmas-Christmas Morning

Posted in Videos, Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 9:21 am by earl

The classic serenity that consumes the house. The casual me getting up and examining everything before calmly sitting down and watching Ren and Stimpy until the others get up. My sister running in and telling me to wake up after I surprisingly overslept. How did that happen? All of these are classic elements of Christmas Morning. The best morning of the year where you rush into Mom and Dad’s room, wake them up, and tell them Santa has been there. You tear open your presents, seeing your favored gift. I love Christmas, and Christmas morning is definitely one of the best parts. As an added bonus, I’ve added in a classic Christmas Morning video. Two Words-Nintendo 64.

That’s Not Right!

Posted in Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 1:41 pm by earl

Recently my Mom and I dropped by Wendy’s, which has exceptional chicken nuggets. They have a deal running through December 31st where if you buy a medium or large combo, you get a code for a free Rhapsody song download. I got two, and I looked forward to singing along with Billy Joel for the rest of the day. However, that is not what happened. I went to Wendys.com, where I entered my e-mail address, 10-digit code, and birthday. They then gave me another code to which I could go to Rhapsody.com and enter. But it wasn’t even that simple. I then had to create an account on Rhapsody, and download the 17 Megabyte software!!! Just to download You’re Only Human!!! That is not right!!!

#5 Best Thing About Christmas-The Christmas Tree

Posted in Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 1:27 pm by earl

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, how lovely are thy branches, oh Christmas Tree, oh Christmas Tree, I forgot the words to the song. The Christmas Tree is definitely 42%, no 35%, no…….It’s a big part of Christmas. With the putting of the ornaments, trying to stuff all of the presents around the tree, and arguing with others about where certain ornaments should go, the Christmas Tree earns it’s spot at #5.

#7 & #6 Best Things About Christmas-Christmas Shopping & Giving to Others

Posted in Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 5:04 pm by earl

OK, I bet you’re wondering, Earl, why are you putting two in one day? You haven’t fell behind. Well, I realize that I will most likely not have time to do #1 on Christmas Eve, or the patience, so I put 2 today so I could finish on the 23rd, this Sunday. Thanks.

It seems really appropriate that today’s is Christmas Shopping since today was my family’s last day of Christmas shopping. Anyway, Christmas Shopping can be a fun, organized activity if you do it right, but can also be a pandemonious, crazy time if you wait until the 23rd. I cannot handle pandemonium. I throw up. I enjoy the making of the list, making inventory on presents (It’s my curse), and the process of getting those presents. I love the long lines, the crazy people on Black Friday, and just the general atmosphere. This makes Christmas oh so better.

Another thing that is a huge part of Christmas and what I thing is one of the vital organs of the body of Christmas is giving to others. I mean, we wouldn’t have the gift-giving process without someone giving. It just makes sense. And I don’t want to play out that I’m the next Ghandhi or the most holy one, but I loved giving Christmas presents to those in need for the past two years. It really completes the Christmas equation. I hope every one of you experience the gift of giving.

Mystery Men/Dodgeball:A True Underdog Story

Posted in Movies at 8:54 pm by earl

Mystery Men:(Grade:A-) One of my favorite comedies, Mystery Men tells the story of a couple of wannabe superheroes that have to save the world from a maniacal villain bent on world destruction after taking the real town Hero hostage. The movie has several superhero references/spoofs, all of which work well. The movie stars The Simpsons’ Hank Azaria as the Blue Raja, master of silverware who still lives with his mom, Kel Mitchell as The Invisible Boy who can only become invisible when noone is looking, Ben Stiller as Captain Furious, a rage-induced superhero, and more. Most of the hillarity comes from the fact none of them have superpowers, and yet they prance around as if they do. The movie serves as a great comedy, and despite some minor flaws, makes a great rent for a Friday night.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story: (Grade:A) Another one of my favorite comedies, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is a great sports comedy. The story follows Peter Lafleur, an Average Joe who runs his own gym (I nearly spelled it Jim) with his buddies Justin Long (Mac vs. PC), Steve the Pirate, and the rest. They now have some new competition, GloboGym, run by White Goodman, played flawlessly by Ben Stiller. This macho man wannabe delivers several classic lines, such as “We can turn that Frankenstein you see in the morning into a Franken-fine!”, and “Here at Globo Gym we understand that ugliness and fatness are genetic disorders, much like baldness or necrophilia, and it’s only your fault if you don’t hate yourself enough to do something about it.” GloboGym threatens to put Peter’s gym out of business, and they soon go into a dodgeball tournement to battle for the cash prize. They are trained byt Patches O’ Hoolihan, who delivered the classic “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball” line. The movie is pure hillarity and has several laugh-out-loud moments. However, some inappropriate themes are, well inappropriate and keep this movie from perfection. Other than that, Dodgeball is a great comedy to watch.

#8 Best Thing About Christmas-Breakfast at Grandma’s

Posted in Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 7:47 pm by earl

One if the best parts of Christmas day, if not the best thing, is going to my Grandma’s house for breakfast. My Grandma is an excellent cook, and her breakfasts are no exception. After unwrapping our presents, we go over and enjoy a delicious meal. I love my Grandma, her breakfasts, and Christmas.

Game of the Week: December 9-15

Posted in Video Games at 4:30 pm by earl

I would just like to send a plea out to the game publishers and developers right now. Stop Making the bad games! Ever since the last week of good games in late November, we have had a junkload of horrible games according to Gamespot. With scores like 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 ranging across the board, you need to make it stop! Were you guys too busy playing with the WiiZapper, Super Mario Galaxy, Guitar Hero 3, Halo 3 and Rock Band to put more effort into your games?

Anyway, although the Orange Box came out for the PS3 this week, I don’t want to give it to it again. So I will give Universe at War Game of the Week. The Alvin and the Chipmunks game? Seriously.

#10 Best Thing About Christmas-Department Store Santas

Posted in Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 11:02 am by earl

We have cracked the top ten, and the list keeps getting better and better! Department store Santas can be a blessing or a curse. The man whose lap you’re sitting on can be a horrible person who hates his job, or can be a jolly man who loves being Santa. I actually know a guy who has a job doing just this. It’s hillarious, kids will point and yell “Santa Claus”! From Monk to the classic Santa in A Christmas Story, Department Store Santas earn their spot at #10.

400th Post

Posted in Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 5:00 pm by earl

Yes, this is my 400th post, and I am celebrating with a new site! Following in the steps of DragonMaster, I am making a new site dedicated to the wide world of Heroes. maybe some day I will be on the post show, arguing with other Heroes fans. If any object, you can say I, but I won’t hear you, so you can comment on the new site and talk there about it. The new site will cover my episode summaries, all of the new news on Heroes, the latest theories, and more! Have no fear, for I will still be running this site.

Anyway, back to the celebration of my 400th post, I would like to thank all of those who helped with this site, Nolanator, James, DragonMaster, Link, Colt, and sometimes Scott for commenting and arguing with me. I would like to thank TIm Kring for making the masterpiece that is Heroes, the Mythbusters for sparking several arguments on this site, and so many more people and things. I love this site, and have been running it for nearly 10 months. Thanks to everybody, and I hope I make it to 500!

#11 Best Thing About Christmas-Christmas Parades/Decorations Around Town

Posted in Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 1:58 pm by earl

At my town’s most recent parade, I probably took about 30 pictures. I just love the different floats and the Christmas spirit that emerges from people when they see the parade. I also love the decorations around cities, including special lights on the light poles, or just a Christmas tree in someone’s yard. It makes all the difference seeing everyone is in the Christmas spirit.

Top Ten Tips for Holiday Shopping

Posted in Top Tens at 6:29 pm by earl

Since I love Christmas shopping and just the whole zanyness of it-I was asked by a lady to get something off the top shelf-, I thought I would give the top ten tips for holiday shopping, as you can see.

10. Eat plenty, that way you’ll have plenty of nutrition.

9. Get plenty of sleep and wear good, comfortable shoes.

8. If you’re getting gifts for a certain person, and they’re with you, create a diversion, but whatever you do, don’t ask them to hold the bag!

7. Avoid long lines by having one person to start waiting in lines for you, and if possible, split into groups and go one at a time throught the express checkout.

6. Plan out where you want and need to go, and make a schedule.

5. If someone else takes something right before you, don’t get upset. Do like my cousin and follow them until they’re not looking and take it out of their cart.

4. Ask the person what they want before you just guess, but surprise them.

3. Look for the best deals in the newspaper and make a plan of attack.

2. Take someone with you to help out, trust me, it makes it a whole lot better.

1. Make a list. This is an extremely important part.

Movie Preview-I Am Legend

Posted in Movies at 5:37 pm by earl

One of my most anticipated movies since I have heard about it is I am Legend, a new horror/action/sci-fi movie starring Will Smith. The story follows Robert Neville (Smith), a scientist who helped develop a virus that wiped out all of the world population except him….or so he thinks. Soon the “infected” are attacking, and he is on a mission to stop them and find some way to bring back his wife and daughter. The movie has had its ups and downs, first starting way back in the 90s. Tom Cruise was in talks to be the main star, but after being picked up and dropped twice, once being directed by Micheal Bay, they settled with Smith. When I first saw the trailer for this, I think I was in either Transformers or something else, but it immediately looked interesting. The movie was especially demanding for Smith, being as he’s nearly the only one in the movie. They did have other people on set, but post-production later just went in and edited them out. This movie looks to be great, and another great movie by Will Smith. If I decide to go see National Treasure 2 over this, it will definitely be a must-watch on DVD. I Am LEgend lonely walks into theaters Friday, December 14, and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence. Below is the trailer.

#12 Best Thing About Christmas-Times at the Fireplace

Posted in Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 1:56 pm by earl

Whether you’re sharing how your day went or watching Deal or No Deal with the family, no household should be without the fireplace. With the combination of this and hot cocoa, it makes for a near-perfect night, especially around Christmas time.
