This was a huge week of releases. We got the PC Version of the critically acclaimed Gears of War, we crossed the company border with Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, we went back to a legoier version of a galaxy far far away, and we got our hands on the new Fire Emblem. Oh yea, we also got Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare, which is Game of the Week due to its great great scores.

Mozilla Firefox is somewhat of a Internet Explorer killer. And boy does it kill. I’m typing this post with this pretty neat software, and it gets the job done. The tab system works nearly as well as IE7’s, but just the look of it is shiny and cool. I will probably use Firefox more than IE7. I love this software and I recommend it to anyone tired with Internet Explorer 7. You can download it extremely easily at www.download.com.

The second game I’m most looking forward to in 2008 (1000 points to who can tell the #1), Star Wars:The Force Unleashed looks to one of 2008’s crown jewels. Being headed by LucasArts, fantastic developers behind Star Wars Battlefront, and just pretty every Star Wars game, it looks to be in good hands. It’s also being helped out by Hasbro, Lego, and Dark Horse! Of course, the others will be mainly helping with the Comic and toys. LucasArts is definitely sharing the love and shooting the game for numerous platforms, including the PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, DS, and Wii. The game is basically a in-the-middle-quel with the story revolving around Darth Vader’s secret apprentice sent to take out the remaining Jedi after Order 66 in Episode 3 and before the events of Episode 4. Some have even said he was hired by Vader to take down the Emperor. But we’ll just have to wait and see. The game uses a super cool new game whosamawhatey called Digital Molecular Matter, where the environment really reacts like ti should. You set a Stormtrooper on fire, he’ll react as if he’s on fire. The environment just got cooler. You 360 fans can go with your fancy graphics, but is Wiiboys will be having way more fun with our motion-sensing. I’m hoping it will go lightsaber control with the Wii remote, and then force control with the nunchuk. Overall, this game looks super super sweet and will hopefully be hitting store shelves sometime in April.

Call of Duty 4 released on November 5, 2007, and has been getting spectacular reviews. It received a 10/10 from Official Xbox Magazine, Official Playstation Magazine, and Game Informer. It received a 9.4 from IGN, and a 92% from Gamerankings. I think. No score yet has been below a 90. Well done soldier. This game is running strong to be Game of the Year.

There will be a holiday themed Monk episode that will air December 7th. And, by the reputation of past holiday Monk episodes-Mr. Monk and the Secret Santa, Mr. Monk Meets His Dad-this looks to be another great installment. With a name like Mr. Monk and the Man Who Shot Santa, it has to be good. You thought I was going to say Smuckers, didn’t you? By the way, here are the names of a few other upcoming episodes:
Mr. Monk Goes to the Bank
Mr. Monk and the Three Julies
Mr. Monk Paints his Masterpiece
Mr. Monk Joins a Cult
Mr. Monk is on the Run
By the way, the new show Chuck is really reminding me of Monk. Each episode is Chuck vs……..something, always dealing with the theme of the episode. This show also has a lot of the Monk humor.

On the road again….Heroes came back this week with a ton of surprises, and an epic storyline.
Hiro was still back in past, and was being held captive by Kensei and the White Beard army. While the patrolling soldier leaves, Hiro teleports him and Yaeko out of the tent. Hiro tells Yaeko to meet him at the infamos cherry blossoms, and plans to destroy White Beard’s guns. He goes back that night to do so, but begins a swordfight with Kensei. He takes Kensei’s sword, doesn’t kill him, but as the tent was about to blow up, Hiro left without him. He then tells Yaeko of the next trial, of how Kensei, which would be him. HE says Kensei had to cut his heart out to save Japan, which is symbolic of him giving her up to save the space/time continuum. He comes back to Ando in the present, along with Kensei’s helmet as a souvenier. He then realizes his father is dead.
Claire wakes up in the morning to find West in her house, which scares her in fear of her father finding him. Later they’re canoodaling (Wikipedia’s word for it), and Mr. Bennet comes in. West freaks out and flys off after Claire says it’s her father. Bennet, after asking Mohinder if he had a gun from one of the paintings and then burning the paintings and taking pictures, yells at Claire. They’re so upset.
Speaking of Suresh, him, Niki/Jessica, Matt, Nathan, Bob, and Molly, are all on the lookout for Maury Parkman, the nightmare man, who is out to kill Bob, a former member of the group. Suresh and Niki are put in charge of stabbing Maury with the virus, but Maury keeps putting Niki in a nightmare where D.L. (great guest appearance) is telling him she’s going to go crazy and get Micah killed. She dreams that Bob shoots D.L., and she punches Mohinder and goes to kill Bob. She shows up, but she stabs herself with the virus to stop herself. Mohinder starts to cure it, but it turns out to be a new strand that is incurable. Suresh is sent to get Claire. He is given a gun to deal with dangerous Bennet, and Suresh confesses he was working with Bennet. Bob forgives. He promises to destroy all vials of the virus after Niki’s accident. Claire’s the only one that can save her. He seems like a nice guy. Meanwhile, Matt is with Molly. He and her get pulled into MAury’s nightmare, but Matt develops the power to do what his father does. So he pulls his father in. This ensues a tear-worthy argument about Matt not being strong enough and his father leaving him. He overcomes it, and leaves his father in his own nightmare. He goes unconscious and Bob sedates him. Oh ya, Bob revealed that Adam Monroe is the dude who is trying to kill the others. He had talked about holocausts, plagues, he considered himself a god. Linderman was his disciple. Maury was his tool to kill.
Peter is in the future with Caitlin, where 93% are dead, 7% are quaranined after the virus. Peter meets his mom, who he doesn’t remember. She tells him of his powers, and after focusing, he remembers. They start to leave, but Caitlin is going to be deported. He accidentally teleports himself back to the present in Adam Monroe’s apartment. Peter hears someone, and shoots a bolt of lightning at him. You see a hand catch it, and burn severely. However, it heals. Adam Monroe a.k.a. KENSEI steps out and says “Peter, what are you doin’ that for? Don’t you recognize me? My names Adam Monroe, and we’re gonna change the world!”
So, nturally, this leaves me with some questions-Why is Adam killing them? Where did Sylar go? What happened after the bomb? How did Peter get where he is how he is? How will they stop the virus?

Ok, let me see if I can get this straight. Heroes was planned on running to the end of Volume 2-Generations (The Second Season) on Monday, December 3rd, due to the fact that Season 2 was different from Season 1. In Season 1 there was a HUGE storyline that spanned 23 episodes. IT would make sense for Season 2 with some mini storylines to cut short at 11 episodes. It would also make sense for me to throw my TV out the window yelling “I’M NOT WAITING FOUR MORE MONTHS FOR MORE!!!!!! THIS IS A RIP-OFF!!!!!” NBC would then plan on airing the next season shortly after. More episodes have been shot, but it’s most likely they would air when the next season goes into production, so the next season doesn’t get interrupeted *cough* SEASON 1!!! It’s also been reported that NBC is going back in and re-filming an ending to the December 3rd episode, which would better suit it as a Season Finale. This is mainly due to the Writer’s Strike. If the Strike is averted, they will use the original ending and go on with the season with the original story arcs in Season 2. If they do end the Season, those stroy arcs better be on the DVD. So basically, we have two possibilities:
#1-The writer’s strike goes on (which it started on the day I’m writing this), they conslude with a now-shooting/pre-shot finale to this current season on December 3.
#2-The writer’s strike is averted, and Season 2 goes on with some pre-shot episodes until the pre-planned Season Finale date sometime in May most-likely. Hey, I’ll write for Heroes!
So, more than likely, Poss. #1 will be the case. I guess this means no Heroes Christmas/Kwanzaa/Hannakuh special J.D. Moment: (Sylar-Hohoho……(Cuts someones head) Maya and Alejandro roasting by an open fire! Sylar can be Santa, and Peter, Nathan, and Niki can be the reindeer. Of course, we’d have to accomadate Suresh’s Atheism.) Sorry about that. It happens. At least we have Chuck.

A little game that made a big splash at E3 a couple of years ago was Spore, a game created by the genius behind The Sims 2, Will Wright. In the game you will control a creature that goes through the world gradually working through the ranks. You will FULLY coustomize your…..whatever and watch him grow and fight other…..whatevers. This is proof the Wii can handle a big game. Spore does not have a release date yet, but it looks to be worth the wait.

October has been pretty big for video games, however November looks to be the grand daddy of the year with Uncharted, Rock Band, Army of Two, Assassin’s Creed, and much more coming out. But one game must stand as the winner this past month. Will it be Guitar Hero III:Legends of Rock, Ratchet and Clank Future:Tools of Destruction, Beautiful Katamari, The Orange Box, or The Legend of Zelda:Phantom Hourglass. The winner, of Game of the Month October 2007 is a tie between Ratchet and Clank 5 (I’m a R & C fanboy), The Orange Box (5 Games for the price of 1 cannot be ignored), and Guitar Hero 3 (it rocks).

This week has been greeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat for video games! We finally received Guitar Hero 3, The Simpsons Game, Timeshift, Battalion Wars 2 (Wii), Virtua Fighter 5, and guitar Hero 3. Once again, one game rocked itself to the top. Yes, I do desperately want to play the Simpsons Game, so that’s why I’m giving it a tie between the two for Game of the Week.

Yes, we have finally arrived on the great month of November. This month is my favorite of the entire year thanks to several things. This moth we are getting several new games on the Wii and 360. Just kidding there’s one or two on the PS3. I mean literally one or two. We have the best-food holiday, and the next day we get to see hillarious footage on the news of people getting trampled in Best Buy. We are also getting in the mood for Christmas. I love November.

Yea, I got to play a couple of songs with one of my favorite rhythmn-based games, Guitar Hero 3. The game has a whole new look, a whole new list of great songs, and a brand new great-looking Gibson Les Paul Guitar. And this is my hands-on review. Well, I was first just amazed at the look and feel of the guitar, which was amazing. The fret buttons are now outlined in their color, which looks cool, and the black (white for Wii) base looks shiny. I started out with a pretty basic song, “Rock you like a Hurricane”, which I kicked butt at. You’re reading a post from the #1 High Scorer! I then went on to “Hit me with your best shot”, and rounded out with Tenacious D. Overall, a very sleek, shiny package that I look forward to playing in the future.
Note: I played the 360 version, not the Wii version, however I hear the Wii version has vibration on it. Awesome!
