Oh Booger.

Yes, Mythbusters finally tested a couple of myths from the Pirates of the Carribbean series on their second pirate special this past Wednesday night. Nolanator, I’m sure you’ll remember the scene in Curse of the Black Pearl where Will and Jack were escaping from the soldiers. They took a boat, created an air bubble, and walked on the ocean floor with the boat above their heads, protecting from harm. Well, the Mythbusters put it to the test. It worked……Until they reached deeper waters. Once they did land on the floor of the pool, they were not able to hold on to the boat. The thing eas just waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy to buoyant for them to be able to hold on to it. IF you were able to get to the ocean floor, which they weren’t with the boat, and then held on to the boat, you just wouldn’t be able to hold onto it. It’s just a matter of physics. So technically Jack and Will would have died at the beginning of Pirates 1, which means Barbossa and his crew would probably be somewhere with or without Davy Jones.

They also tested the myth that pirates could efficiently use silverware as ammunition to their cannons, as seen towards the end of Curse of the Black Pearl, where Ragetti was stabbed in his wooden eye with a fork. Well, that could not have happened. Silverware just doesn’t have that kind of accuracy. It just ends up shooting anywhere but at the target. Also, it doesn’t fire that well anyway. There’s just too much air going around the silverware to propel it with deadly force. However, as they packed several steak knives in a sebot (look it up), it propelled with deadlier accuracy. However, as you can see in the movie, that is not what happened. I know it was just a movie, but when you mess with science, science messes back.

Sarcastic! And I don’t think you were being a smart elleck, I just mad when someone has to point out that stuff in a movie is fake.

I suggest you don’t put anything else like this again. People who do stuff like this ruin the movies for the rest of us. It breaks the movie enchantment.

I will put something like this again. You have to realize that what they did in the movie was fake. It could not happen!!!! It personally does not ruin the movie for me, but I could see how you could be offended. I mean, they were trying to pass off an impossible stunt as possible. And that offends me.

At least I don’t play Kingdom Hearts and say that Beast is my #4 “Favorite Disney Character”.

Sorry, but don’t insult my life. I have a good one, you can’t say I don’t.

 Somebody is snippy! I don’t think there is anything wrong with what he did. I mean it is not like the rest of the movie was that realistic.

I only hate it when people do that during the movie.

…unless they are laughing at the stupidity of it. (ex: oh yeah! build a spaceship with a bunch of bamboo, a treadmill, a monkey, and a banana! Why did I not think of that!)

Or if the movie is based on a book. And the movie is nothing like the book. (I hate that!)

Thank you James! Once again Dragon Master or whatever your name is, the whole Meredith thing has been resolved. Me and her are friends. And besides Patricia, that is only 1/12 of what’s going on in my life right now. I have a ton of other things going on, and a lot of great things happening for me that you do not know about! So don’t pretend you know my life in a nutshell and insult my life. I’s got a good one.

And on the original context of this post, it’s just a movie, and it’s not my fault they tryed to pass off an impossible trick as reality.
