The Seeker:Dark is Rising

Posted in Movies at 11:21 am by earl

(Grade:B-)-This movie was a lot better than I expected. It follows Will Stanton, a regular average joe who discovers he is a member of a secret super-powered society creatively named “The Light” that is collecting 6 signs to defeat, guess who, “The Dark”, which is led by the once Heroes guest star who made this movie for me, Christopher Eccleston. He’s awesome! Anyway, the movie spanned about 1 and a half hours, which suits, but kinda felt dragged out in certain areas. It takes about 1 hour for him to get used to it. But the kid who plays the main character does a pretty good job. Although I could see this movie better if it had used a man as the main character. OVerall, this is a pretty solid movie for October.

DVD-Transformers

Posted in DVD at 2:40 pm by earl

My Favorite movie so far this year has been Transformers, mainly due to its kickbutt action, awesomeness, and Scorponok. But for those of you who didn’t get to see this awesome movie in theaters, here’s your chance to finally find out what you missed. The story follows Sam Witwicky, a regular teenage boy trying to get a cool car, pass high school, and get the girl of his dreams. That is, until he realizes his new car is a Autobot named Bumblebee on a mission to save the world along with the other Autobots. The DVD comes with a sweet cover for the Special Edition, but the regular edition could be better. Anyway, this DVD comes packed with special features, like

Commentary with Michael Bay
The Story Sparks
Human Allies
I Fight Giant Robots
Battleground
Rise of the Robots
Autobots Roll Out
Decepticon’s Strike
Inside the AllSpark
From Script to Sand: The Scorponock Attack
And Concept Art!

Overall, this looks like an awesome DVD for any fan of the movie to check out. I personally can’t wait to pop it into my DVD player and enjoy. I’ll leave my opinion of it in a comment on this post later. This DVD rolls out on DVD and HD DVD October 16.

Reign Over Me

Posted in Movies at 9:12 am by earl

(Grade:C-) This movie was pretty dissapointing. I first saw the preview during the Pursuit of Happyness. It looked pretty promising. It was just kinda boring. I didn’t really think that Adam Sandler did a good job, because the story didn’t make that much sense. Also, the lanquage is a little overbearing. They used the F word a lot and the sexual references were weird. OVerall, Reign Over Me was just dissapointing and I just didn’t really like it that much.

Game of the Week:October 7-13

Posted in Video Games at 9:01 am by earl

It’s been a pretty exciting week in the world of video games. We got a little pesent from Valve, a delay of Brawl, a round of FIFA, and a new adventure in the Battlefront series. But one game stood above the rest. It’s name is The Orange Box. With a whopping total of five games, including Portal, Team Fortress 2, And Half Life 2, and Episodes 1 and 2. It is Game of the Week.

FEBRUARY 10TH!!!!!

Posted in Video Games at 8:53 am by earl

Yes, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which already had its Game of the Year 2007 plaque shined, has been put off until February 10, 2008. They say this is so they can perfect the game. This is the same format they used with Twilight Princess, and it was perfect. However, IGn and Gamespot have gotten a hands-on experience, and they say it is awesome. They say it’s because of Sonic. So as long as they have a reasonable excuse for putting it off, they don’t delay it any longer, and they can produce a perfect Super Smash Bros. Experience, I will be OK.

Sonic is Now A Character!

Posted in Video Games at 4:12 pm by earl

Unbelieveably and unexpectedly, Sonic is now a character on Super Smash Bros. Brawl character. This is most likely due to popular demand. Anyway, I probably won’t play as this little blue rodent, but I could really care less. Welcome Sonic. He just doesn’t look like he fits. He sticks out.

Scrubs

Posted in The Tube at 5:55 pm by earl

Scrubs is a hillarious show that comes on NBC and Comedy Central. It follows John Dorian, Chris Turk, Eliiot Reid, Dr. Cox, Dr. Kelso, and the Janitor on their daily walks of life. As I said earlier, this show is hillarious mainly due to J.D.’s moments where he drifts off and has these crazy somewhat-relevant daydreams. There is also tons of random humor, from Dr. Cox constantly calling J.D. a girl’s name, and the Janitor making threats on J.D.’s life. There was even an episode where head Dr. Kelso taking rounds with the interns and asking one of them what was wrong with a certain patient. The intern responded, “He has mild hypertension, coronary heart disease, and cyhrosis of the liver.” Dr. Kelso responded, “Nope, he’s dead.” This show is one of the greatest and I recommend it to anyone looking for a funny show to watch. It comes on 6 :oo P.M. Central Weekdays on Comedy Central and sometimes on NBC.

Heroes-Kindred

Posted in The Tube at 9:26 am by earl

Well, at the first of the season I was a little afraid for Heroes, scared that it might not be able to last as a series, but this episode proved me wrong. Peter is still in Ireland, and decides to work with the brothers in exchange for the box with his identity in it. Not literally. He helps them rob an armor car and then it turns out one of the brothers is a trader, but Peter takes care of him. Peter then realizes that he’s happy there and procrasinates to open the box. We also finally got to check up on Niki and Micah, who are back in Las Vegas, next to D.L.’s grave. Niki is falling for the company’s trap so she can be normal and leaves Micah with what appears to be D.L.’s mom. Cool!!! Claire just kees struggling with being normal, and after her stalker has found out about her, he uses Claire as an example of a regenerator in class. She leaves in tears, and he comes out to her, and they fly off. I couldn’t make this up. It looks like they’re boyfriend/girlfriend. Suresh has finally returned from Cairo, and Matt worries about having to take care of him and Molly. Suresh is on the phone with Bennet when he discovers a painting showing Mr. Bennet dead. It was one of the 8 that Mr. Bennet was referring to that he didn’t know what the other 7 were. Maya and ALejandro finally get to Mexico where ALejandro is arrested and Maya thus kills the guards, but Alejandro brings them back. They then escape with another inmate in his car. And at the preview for next week, it says that Kaito, Angela, Dallas, Linderman, and the others that were part of their group were the original Heroes and that someone is trying to kill them off. This person is also the great evil Molly has nightmares about. Hiro is still in the past where he has finally taught Takezo to be a Hero, and sends Ando messages through the hilt of the sword. However, Hiro stays because he is attracted to Takezo’s bride-to-be. We finally see Sylar! It turns out he survived, Candace saved him, and that his powers won’t work until he heals. So what is a guy supposed to do? Well Sylar just killed Candace and stole her power, but it won’t work. It turns out Candace is obese. Poor girl. Sylar runs out of the warehouse screaming trying to get his powers to work. However, he’s in the middle of a huge forest.

What will be Game of the Year?

Posted in The Way Earl Sees It, Video Games at 2:12 pm by earl

As you may know, this year there are tons of great titles coming out for each of the three new consoles, I mean the PS3 has Uncharted and R & C 5, the 360 has Mass Effect and Ace Combat 6, and the Wii has games like Mario Galaxy, Brawl, and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2. However, when looking at these titles, you have to wonder, which will climb victorious and be the best game of the year? Sure there are millions of different ones, but one will probably get more than the others. At the end of this year I’ll probably say Brawl is the best, but that’s just because I’ve been waiting six years and it just looks really really good. But there are tons of other games going for that prize. So which will it be? Of course we’re going to ahve to wait until we can really have a definitive answer, but I think Halo 3 is so far really reigning supreme. We’ve had Heavenly Sword, Bioshock, Warioware, Phantom Hourglass, Burning Crusades, Forza 2, Skate, and World in Conflict, all of which are great games. And really the games that I see really sticking out as some of the greater competition later this year is Guitar Hero 3, Ratchet and Clank 5, Kane and Lynch:Dead Men, Super Mario Galaxy, Brawl, Conan, Ace Combat 6, TimeShift, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Crysis, Assassin’s Creed, Rock Band, just to name a few!!! Here’s my order of top five most likely games to win Game of the Year the most:
1. Mass Effect
2. Super Mario Galaxy
3. Assassin’s Creed
4. Halo 3
5. Call of Duty 4
There are several other games to list, but that’s my story, and I’m stickin’ to it. Unless Mass Effect bombs.

301st Post!

Posted in Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 8:41 am by earl

I realized that although that was my 300th post, I didn’t give it the attention that this glorious occasion deserves. I have been running this site for 7 months, which equals about 1.5 posts a day, .3 posts a minute, .05 posts per second, and 65% percent of my life wasted here. I did all that in my head, aren’t I special? You guys have seen me through the good times and the bad (I’ll ignore the song reference). You guys felt my excitement the day after Transformers as I was raving about its awesomeness. I have done a lot of stuff here. I remember I once even checked my comments at Radioshack. I set my site as their homepage. I would like to thank all of those who commented, including Dragon Dude, James, Colt, and all the others. For those of you who dislike my site, I cannot please everyone. I cannot turn back time. I would change a lot of things if I could. I DON’T WANNA HEAR ANYTHING FROM YOU DRAGON MASTER!!!!! i would just like to give a big thanks to all that helped me, especially Chuck Norris and Optimus Prime, they really helped me during my rough times. As far as my favorite post, I love all of them. But I escpecially loved my Heroes recaps, my secondary live E3 coverage, and The Way Earl Sees It. Sonic is on life support. Anyway, I just wanna send a huge thank you to everyone for their help, and I’ll do this again at 500. By the way, at this time I have around 500 comments. Thank you all.

Chuck

Posted in The Tube at 3:54 pm by earl

This is a really cool show about a guy named Chuck, who works for the Nerd Herd (Geek Squad) at his local Buy More (Best Buy). He has a friend named Morgan, who provides for most of the funniest moments in the show, his sister Ellie, who Morgan hits on constantly, and her boyfriend, Captain Awesome. One night, Chuck’s old friend Bryce, who is a secret agent, sends thousands of pictures in a lightning fast frame rate, downloading millions of Government secrets into Chuck’s brain. Don’t worry, he has two partners, John Casey and Sarah Kent, Casey as Chuck’s antagonist and Sarah as his fake girlfriend. They go undercover and are trying to get the secrets out of Chuck’s head. I really expected this show to bomb, but after watching the Pilot I think it’s one of the rare gems this fall.

Earl’s Game Closeup-The Halo Series

Posted in Game Closeups at 3:35 pm by earl

One of the greatest and most selling game franchises of all time is the Halo series, which never ceased to amaze us with it’s sharp graphics, unique and fun feel to the game, and it’s overall impressive fun factor. So let’s take a look back and see the humble story of this game, shall we?

It all started with Halo:Combat Evolved, a “little” FPS that was made by the hardly known Bungie Studios as a launch title for the original Xbox. It sold over 5 milion copies worldwide, becoming an official smash. The game was critically acclaimed, and although people knew it was going to be a trilogy, noone knew how huge it would eventually become. It even gave people a glimpse of it’s great but soon to be greater multiplayer. Bungie followed up this shooter with Halo 2, released November 9, 2004. people went nuts, and even more than Halo 1, it was an even bigger smash, getting a 10 out of 10 from Game Informer and the “Best Xbox Game Ever” award by IGN. Master Chief was starting to become like video gaming’s Steven Tyler. Bungie planned to blow people away waith their third installment, set to release in 2007. They showed off a trailer at E3 06, and it brought some to tears. It brought even more tears on its September 25, 2007 release date. Millions of people showed up in New York, Seattle, California, and Florida to get their copies. Halo 3 made $170 Million dollars in its first day, and 1.7 million copies were preordered. You could say that a lot of people wanted to play this game. With the Halo trilogy over, Halo Wars on the horizon, and countless other projects like Red vs. Blue, Halo ActionClix, and more coming or already here, we may have finished the Halo story’s fight, but this franchise still has some fight in it left to come.
