Game Previews:Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, Big Brain Academy:Wii Degree, Guitar Hero 3

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2

Yes, Silv and James, it is true, Rayman and his nutty rabbit friends are coming back, this time, from what I’ve read, only for the Wii. This time they will have 60 new minigames, and a stronger emphasis on the simultaneous multiplayer action, in which there have been four playable minigames-baseball, beer, rodeo, and burgers, in which the rabbids are trying to become as humanlike as possible. I honestly cannot wait to try this out (hopefully) at the end of this year.

Oh, the insanity! Oh, the humanity!

Big Brain Academy:Wii Degree

The Big Brain series is finally heading towards th Wii. Finally! This latest installment is sure to be pushing the limit of our brains and making us smarter…..with motion sensing! Look for this one this June, but until then we can assume these screenshots mean something smart.

Guitar Hero 3

One of my favorite games of all time is Guitar Hero 2, mainly because of its fun and insane gameplay. This time it’s comin’ back for a third gig on the next-gen consoles. But more importantly, for the Wii. The new controller will be modeled like the Gibson SG, which I think is the one they used in the 360 version of #2. I am really looking forward to this game for the Wii, and I don’t even care if it does use motion sensing, I just wanna rock!

Hamds-On with F.E.A.R.

Posted in Hands-On with Earl at 5:02 pm by earl

(PS3 Version) Well this game is alright, it didn’t really meet up with my expectations. The combat is average, although the slo-mo was pretty cool. The enemies were pretty generic, and so were your weapons. You have your shotgun, machine gun, rocket launcher, etc. Nothing special. Even the scenes that were supposed to be scary just weirded me out a little, nothing extravagent. The swearing in this game is awful, every time you shoot a baddy they yell out the “s word”! The enviroments were also extremely bland, making it difficult to find your objective. Overall, you could do worse for a PS3 game, but you could also do a lot better.

Rayman Raving Rabbids (PS2)

Posted in Game Reviews at 4:50 pm by earl

(7.75/10.00) I put PS2 out to the side because I believe that there will be a vast difference between the PS2 and Wii versions in term of gameplay. (The Wii version’s more fun.) And I will get the Wii version’s to you as soon as possible. This game tells the story of Rayman, who has been captured and is being forced to compete in strange minigames. Although the minigames are fun, you continuously see pretty much the same one over and over again, with little variety, so it can get very repetitive. The game is also very short, with it only taking me and Silverwing about 5 hours to beat. The humor in this game is great, and probably my favorite part. Overall, this is a fun game, but I would recommend that, if you have the choice, to buy it for it’s original console.

Okami for the Wii?

Posted in Game Previews at 1:18 pm by earl

While looking up info on the original Okami on IGN, I discovered a rumor that they were planning on making an Okami game for the Wii. I believe this would be a great idea, mainly because of the Wii’s motion sensing which would work extremely well with the drawing in the Okami gameplay. James, let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Okami

Posted in Game Reviews at 11:14 am by earl

(9.00/10.00) This game, created by the now-deceased game company Clover Studios, puts you in control of Okami Ameratsu, a wolf that has been possesed by an ancient goddess, and you are trying to save your village from the forces of darkness. Along the way, you will get several amazing brush stroke techniques, including cutting, lilypads, vines, etc. The graphics in this game are just beautiful, perfecty illustrating ancient Japanese watercolors. There is also humor in this gamewhich can be pretty funny at sometimes. Although I have trouble sometimes figuring what to do, this is a classic game for the PS2 that every PS2 owner should try out.

Heroes-Final Five Episodes-”How to Stop An Exploding Man”

Posted in The Tube at 9:25 am by earl

This was just a great Season Finale. It starts off showing all the back stories of all the Heroes, and continuing where we left them off in “Landslide”. Niki/Jessica and D.L. phased out of the office, and Niki/Jessica went off to find Micah, where she a  catfight with Jessica (Candace) she defeated her other personality and saved Micah, where they later met up with Suresh and Molly, and went outside to Kirby Plaza to see the explosive showdown. Anyway, Suresh, being confronted by Bennet and Matt, gave Molly a chance to find someone even worse than Sylar, someone that coud see her. Meanwhile, Matt planned on killing Sylar himself, which, down in Kirby Plaza, led to him being shot by his own bullets, but he probably lived. Bennet himself was trying to keep Claire safe, who was taken by Nathan to “safety”, which she eventually escaped from them and met up in Kirby Plaza with the rest. Bennet thtne met up with Peter, who had a dream of Simone’s deceased father telling him he was the one. Hiro , trying to find ando, found him trying to kill Sylar, but failing miserably, so, before Sylar could kill him, he teleported Ando back to Japan and Hiro went back to take down Sylar. Meanwhile, back in Kirby Plaza, Peter finally confronted Sylar, who had just thrown Bennet, whose first name was revealed to be Noah, into a wall, breaking his arm. Sylar started to mind strangle Peter, and while trying to beat him down with a parking meter, was beaten down by Niki, with her new controlled personality and super strength. Peter then beats dwn Sylar, not using any powers, just in time to have Peter have his powers to start overloading. Hiro then pops out of nowhere and stabs and kills Sylar, presenting the now-famous line, hiyata. Sylar then mind shoves Hiro into a building, but not before he can teleport himself away. Sylar then collapses on the ground, dead. Peter, still having a power overload, calls on Claire, but Nathan then shows up and flys Peter into the sky so he can blow up without hurting anyone but Nathan himself, killing him. We then get an encouraging commentary by Suresh, who, while talking shows Bennet walking home with Claire, Niki and her gang crying together, annd Matt being carried away in an ambulance. But before the episode is over, it shows Sylar’s blood traveling into the sewer, which looked like it had a life of it’s own, showing “End of Volume One” on the sewer lid. But what about Hiro? It shows a grassy knoll, with the words “Volume Two:Generations” appearing. It then showed Hiro, falling out of the sky, in feudal 1671 Kyoto Japan, with a group of soldiers fighting one on a horse carrying a flag with the symbol on it. Hiro then curses in Japanese, then looks up into the sky to see the eclipse starting to form in the sky. To be continued…

Heroes Abilities Quiz

Posted in Video Games, Weapons of Mass Enjoyment at 7:24 pm by earl

This is a really cool quiz that will determine wheter or not you are a “hero”. But be careful, honest it in a certain way and it will say you have no abilities. how depressing. Click here to go there and take the quiz. Hey, if enough people take it and have powers, we can all form together and create something like the Justice League. Dibs on leader! Well, the first time I took it, I was Nathan, then Micah, then Sylar, now I’ll take it honestly…..Okay, I’m Nathan. I’ll try again later.

My Heroes Predictions

Posted in The Tube at 6:35 pm by earl

Well, I have several theories on how Heroes could end their first season in their explosive season finale. Okay.

One is that Sylar could kill and steal Candace’s cloning power, then Peter’s vision could continue and Sylar disquises himself as Nathan, and the vision plays out, except Claire shoots Peter to stop him, he comes back to life, and Sylar gets killed by Hiro. This one probably won’t happen, because it makes no sense.

Another one is that Peter goes through about 35 minutes of the episode trying to find and stop Sylar, he finally does find him, they have an awesome showdown, everybody else is trying to figure out what’s going to happen, and Hiro comes in at the last minute and stabs Sylar, killing him. (This one is my pick.)

Another one is that Sylar tries to blow up New York, but The Hatian shows up out of nowhere and neutralizes his powers. Yea….. Forget that one.

One is that pretty much the same one happens what I said in the second one, except Claude shows up, out of nowhere, and turns Hiro invisible so he can stab Sylar before the boom-boom happens. I like that.

Although I do not know what will happen, I know some things that will go down:

  • Hiro’s gonna stab something. He didn’t go through that training for nothing!
  • Something’s gonna blow up!
  • There WILL be a face-off!

Send in your theories, and if it’s after the finale, send in what you thought would happen.

Heroes DVD!

Posted in The Tube at 11:51 am by earl

Heroes will thankfully be releasing their Season 1 DVD on August 28, 2007. The 7 DISC DVD set will feature all 23 episodes from Season 1, along with several DVD extras, including commentary and more, but the most anticipated by myself would be the 73 minute alternate pilot, including a never-before-seen Hero! The DVD set will cost a surprisingly cheap for 7 discs and 25 hours of content $59.99. The Monk DVDs cost $49.99 with only 16 hours of content each!

Game of the Week:May 13-19

Posted in Video Games at 2:40 pm by earl

With the school year coming to a close, I would like to wish the Seniors the best of luck as they go out into the open world, I hope you have long, healthy, prosperous, Christian lifes as you live out the rest of your years. I also wish the Seniors that are graduating from school luck to.

This week was better than others for video games, with the release of MLB 07:The Show and FreeStyle Street Basketball Online, we have had some good releases. The Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta came out Wednesday, which had enough bugs to drive fanboys crazy. But of course, this week also had some not-so-hot releases, like Shrek 3:The Game, which delivers plenty of Shrek for super-casual I-think-I’ll-try-out-Shrek-and-have-fun-with-it gamers, but leaves regular gamers frustrated with bad combat, frustrating camera, and more. We were also dissapointed by Touch the Dead, a game with an insane difficulty. Overall, I have decided to give this week’s award to Resident Evil 4 for the PC. With all the zombie-shootin’ fun you could ever want, this game wins. Period.
